Never in history have we been so close to finishing the Great Task that Jesus gave us before he ascended into heaven than we are today, and it is only a matter of time until ALL have heard the Good News. I’ve never been so sobered to the reality of the hour we are living in, and unshakably convinced of the need for all of us who call ourselves ‘disciples’ to no longer meddle in the shallow waters of mediocrity and waste our time doing what we want to do, but rather give ourselves entirely to finishing the Great Commission and hasten the day of His return.

The year 2020 is very significant and it is well known in the missions community because it is the watershed year that many missions leaders, including Loren Cunningham (founder YWAM), Stephen Douglass (president Campus Crusade), believe that the gospel will be preached to every people-group on the entire earth… THAT’S IN 7 YEARS!

There is an estimated 16,000 people-groups according to the Joshua Project, too many of which have yet to hear about Jesus! Matt 24:14 says that the end will not come until the gospel has been preached to ALL nations [root word for ethnic group]. Since the time of Jesus, this has never been an actual reality, but it is in our generation. According to many missions experts, in the next 7 years, more people will come to salvation than any time in HISTORY, at an unprecedented, accelerated rate. It’s already happening in places like China, India, and the Middle East. THIS is the kind of hour we are living in and undoubtedly, it demands a response from us.

According to many missions experts, in the next 7 years, more people will come to salvation than any time in HISTORY, at an unprecedented, accelerated rate.

The Father is delaying His day of judgment until He can give His Son an inheritance and reward for his suffering from EVERY tribe, language, people, and nation (Rev 5:9), and the latter could and WILL happen in our lifetime!  Jesus is so worthy to receive His Bride from every nation on this earth because he has purchased it by his blood, and it is our privilege to dedicate our lives to give this to Him. But our task in full is not only to finish preaching the gospel to all nations, but to stir their bridal love for Jesus! As the global Church tarries in crying out in a spirit of longing, just as a bride would long for her bridegroom before their wedding day, Jesus will come back, unveiled in all His glory, to receive what is rightfully His (Rev 22:17,20)!

Our job then, as a holy priesthood unto God, is to do our work faithfully so that we could, on that Day, give Jesus his full inheritance of lovers in the sphere He has called us to! Our mission is not only to tell people about His first coming, but to call and beckon others to long lovingly and prepare diligently for His second coming! Until the Church in every nation of this earth is crying out for His return, forsaking all other lesser lovers and fixing her eyes on the SUPREME beauty of the Son, He will not come back. The Church must be ready to be equally yoked with the Son on the wedding day, by loving Jesus with an intense purity that is worthy of Him (Rev 19:9-10).

Our mission is not only to tell people about His first coming, but to call and beckon others to long lovingly and prepare diligently for His second coming!

When we call people to salvation, what are we inviting them into? Whether we’re called to the business world, or to government, or to the mission field, are we simply inviting them to receive forgiveness for their sins, or are we also beckoning them into a deep love-sick longing for the Bridegroom’s return? And are we merely being motivated by obligation and obedience, or are we being moved by the deep desire and joy at the thought of giving worthy Jesus His reward among the people we are ministering to?

As we are part of the Church ourselves, are we willing to give our lives in order to fulfill our highest destiny in God, whatever the cost may be? Are we loving and longing for him with a wholeheartedness that Jesus deserves?  In response to the times we are living in, my prayer is that we would give EVERYTHING to obey the call of God on our lives, while we all the more cry out with the Spirit: “Come, Lord Jesus!
