As we arrive at the halfway point of our Awaken Discipleship Training School (DTS), Amy Sollars came to teach. She is a prominent teacher on the Holy Spirit. One day, we had mass baptisms in the Holy Spirit. The next, we had teaching and mass anointing in gifts of the spirit. By Wednesday, our entire class had either been hardcore rocked by God or was becoming a little bummed out by their own lack of encounters.

God moves in unexplainable ways. Why he encounters some so strongly, some gradually and others not in physical ways is a mystery. We have to trust that God is indeed moving in everybody’s lives and hearts regardless of physical manifestations.

We saw so many students encountered by God in ways that will truly change their lives forever. People were called into missions long term, freed from strongholds, and given the Holy Spirit in truly amazing ways. I have always wanted the gift of healing, and had been given a couple words of prophecy that I would be given this gift, but I never have seen it at work in my own life.

Nothing much happened to me personally on the day we were praying for spiritual gifts, but for some reason I had a renewed faith to step out in prayer for healings. The perfect opportunity arose that afternoon as I was meeting with my team. One of my students told me he had been having severe chest pains for days–bad enough that it was hard to breath and impossible to sleep.

He was completely healed! Just moments before, He had been hunched over and wincing in pain, hardly able to breathe at all, much less deep breaths.

As soon as I heard it, I was filled with faith. Not my normal response. Another student and I jumped up and said the quickest one minute prayer. When I asked him how he felt, I basically expecting the same result as I’ve always gotten: “the same,” or “I guess a little better.”

Nope! He was completely healed! Just moments before, He had been hunched over and wincing in pain, hardly able to breathe at all, much less deep breaths. As soon we prayed, he felt all the pain leave his body and we went running around the building telling everyone nearby what had just happened.

I don’t know if that was the first of many, or just an amazing gift to boost all of our faiths. I do know that God is awesome and that He wants to show up in incredible ways. I am so filled with faith to see blind eyes see, deaf ears hear, lame men walk, and pain be banished both during this DTS and in the rest of my walk with God.

He wants to encounter us everywhere we are! As we walk with Him, he continues to surprise us in so many ways.
